Veterinary Sales Assistant
We are looking for outstanding resource to fill in the position of Veterinary Sales Assistant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for provision of Para-veterinary services to clients within the store and offsite.
Key responsibilities
· Provide guidance to walk in customers on animal health
· Prescribe the required medication
· Conduct diagnosis on sick animals
· Initiate sales by visiting farms and recommending company Vet Products
· Treating disease affected animals on behalf of clients
Qualification
Grade 12 Certificate with credit or better in English and Mathematics
Minimum two years’ work experience
Certificate or Diploma in animal health or a related field
Must be registered with the Veterinary Association of Zambia
Must reside within Mkushi

Veterinary Officer
Mkambo Farms Limited, located in Chisamba is looking to employ an experienced and motivated Veterinary Officer who will report to the Dairy Farm Manager.
Responsibilities include,
1. Conduct postmortem studies and analyses to determine the causes of animals ‘death
2. Establish and conduct quarantine and testing procedures that prevent the spread of diseases
3. To examine animals to detect and determine the nature of diseases.
4. Inoculate animals against various diseases such as distemper
5. Administer vaccines to prevent common diseases in animals
6. Perform surgery on animals, including spaying and neutering
7. Prescribe medication to treat health issues in animal
8. Provide emergency care to sick or injured animals
9. Advising on good veterinary practice.
10. Undertaking postmortem examinations and other diagnostics.
11. Document and maintain records, including diagnosis, treatment, and any other relevant information
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Dairy Science, or related field (preferred)
- Proven experience in dairy farm management.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Knowledge of dairy nutrition, genetics, and reproductive management.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

VETERINARY TECHNICAL ADVISOR – ZAMHATCH (1)
The Required Skills for this Role Include:
- Promoting and protecting the vision of the company.
- Responding promptly to complaints relating to chick quality/healthreported through Zambeef customer service,
- Zamhatch customer care officers or Zamhatch agents in order to ensure the name of the brand is protected at all times.
- Collaborating with the sales manager in planning and conducting customer (farmer) training programs.
- Collaborating with other Poultry Veterinarians in the company to ensure quality service delivery.
- Providing veterinary technical support to both external Zamhatch customers (small/medium scale farmers) and contract growers.
- Interpreting laboratory reports, make diagnosis and report findings. Maintain records and files, complete incident forms, and compile regular reports.
- Coordinating with other poultry veterinarians to develop and modify flock health programs and ensure correct vaccine administration in both broilers and breeders.
- Working in tandem with all other poultry disciplines to ensure a smooth flow of information.
- Assisting in conducting routine disease sero – surveillance in broilers.
Following up on any check-ups under the instruction of the General Manager. - Responding promptly to any reports from the General Manager, other poultry veterinarians and Out grower
- Managers or other necessary disciplines in order to combat the matter early.
- Assisting with sales of day-old chicks and management of customer care officers when need arises.
The Required Qualifications are:
- With a Minimum Degree in Veterinary Medicine
- Minimum of two years of work experience as a Poultry Veterinarian or with any poultry experience
- Member of VCZ
- Computer literacy
- Valid Motor Vehicle license

- Ability to work with anyone and must be a goal-oriented person

Veterinary Assistant
Furrer Foundation is hiring:
A Veterinary Assistant for its regenerative grazing project across different regions of Zambia
Do you want to be part of a regenerative livestock management project in a communal context?
About the project:
Over- as well as under-grazing are some of the main reasons for landscape degradation across Zambia.
To counter this the Furrer Foundation has developed a system of communal herding and communal rangeland management which is not only stopping the ongoing degradation but regenerating the landscape in Rufunsa District, Lusaka Province.
Furrer Foundation now has a mandate to spread the learnt regenerative livestock management principles on communal lands across Zambia.
Your responsibilities:
- Work with communities to adapt new, regenerative livestock management practices.
- Implement the principles learnt and systems developed in Rufunsa in other communal setups.
- Engage with the local community to develop annual grazing plans.
- Supervise herders and interns/assistants
- Manage livestock diseases in communal areas.
- Develop annual vaccination and other prophylactic treatment calendars for communities
- Conduct individual animal treatments and veterinary procedures in communal livestock herds
- Collaborate with outside experts to collect data on effect of the change in livestock management.
Your profile:
- Intrinsic motivation for sustainable agriculture and regenerative grazing.
- Minimum of a diploma in Veterinary Assistant
- Minimum of 3 years of hands on work experience as veterinary assistant.
- Experience in working with and living in rural communities.
- Native-level proficiency in spoken and written English and Nyanja.
- Creative, resourceful, and proactive relationship builder with a positive can-do attitude
Contractual aspects:
- Contract: Permanent, full-time, start date ideally early 2023 / by arrangement
- Salary: competitive and commensurate with experience and education
- Location: mainly Chirundu, but also Rufunsa, Mpulungu and Serenje
