Academic qualifications and Experience
Grade 12 school certificate/ GCE
Craft certificate in Machining from a well-recognized institution.
Must have not less than 3 years’ work experience in engineering and manufacturing industry.

Maintenance Technician – Plumbing

Qualification
- 5 years management experience.
- Proven experience in water management systems.
- Project management experience beneficial.
- Possess a certificate of good conduct from recognized law enforcing authority from the country;
- Exceptional communication skills delivered both verbally and in writing;
- Skills in managing, organizing, planning and implementing assigned tasks under pressure of frequent and tight schedules;
- Ability to gather and analyse data and to work with figures
- Strong ability to apply good judgment and decision-making skills in difficult and complex working environments.

Maintenance Foreman
Job Summary
The Maintenance Foreman will oversee maintenance planning and execution of special projects, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with safety standards. This role will support continuous improvement efforts, minimizing downtime and ensuring that facilities and equipment are maintained to the highest standards.
Reports to: Commercial Services Manager
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance Planning & Scheduling
– Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment and facilities.
– Conduct regular inspections of all facilities, identifying and addressing any maintenance issues.
– Coordinate with relevant departments to minimize operational disruption.
– Document and manage work orders and maintenance records to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
– Liaise with other departments to ensure minimal disruption to operations during maintenance activities.
2. Special Project Execution
– Plan and execute special maintenance projects, including upgrades, installations, and retrofitting of equipment.
– Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets in collaboration with stakeholders.
– Conduct risk assessments for special projects, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
3. Team Supervision
– Lead a team of maintenance staff, assigning daily tasks, providing training, and conducting performance evaluations.
– Ensure team adherence to company policies, safety protocols, and standard operating procedures.
4. Inventory & Resource Management
– Manage maintenance inventory, ensuring that spare parts and materials are available as needed.
– Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for procurement of materials, negotiating for cost-effective and timely supply.
– Manage the maintenance budget and ensure cost-effective maintenance solutions.
– Control wastage within your department.
5. Continuous Improvement
– Identify and implement improvements in maintenance processes to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.
– Stay updated on industry best practices, introducing new methods and technologies as appropriate.
6. Compliance & Reporting
– Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
– Maintain accurate maintenance records and prepare regular reports on team performance, equipment status, and project completion.
Qualifications:
– Education: Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
– Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in a maintenance role, with supervisory/planning experience preferred.
Skills:
– Strong project management and planning skills.
– Knowledge of maintenance practices, tools, and safety standards.
– Proficiency in maintenance software and inventory management.
– Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Maintenance Technician – Plumbing
Reports to Assistant Facilities Manager-Works & Maintenance. The incumbent will perform a wide variety of plumbing, and repair functions related to the care and maintenance of sewer treatment plant and all plumbing services plus general maintenance in all CIDRZ premises.
Main duties
- Performs a wide variety of general facilities maintenance repairs and services.
- Installs plumbing systems and does plumbing maintenance.
Involved in general maintenance activities around CIDRZ facilities - Repairs and relocates plumbing fittings
- Replaces wash basins, faucets and seals on plumbing equipment; repair leaky faucets and clean clogged drains; install and repair sprinklers
- Maintains monthly inspection and maintenance of facilities plumbing installations
- Assists in stocking, unloading and delivery of building supplies
- Cleans and maintains equipment’s for the safety of staff and the maintenance of facilities
- Completes paperwork to document work completed.
- Liaises with service providers for sewer treatment plant, plumbing services, and water firefighting equipment to ensure prompt service delivery
- Provides the Assistant Manager -Works & Maintenance with weekly reports on work carried out.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Minimum of a technician certificate in plumbing, additional qualifications in building services will be an added advantage.
- At least 3 years relevant experience in a reputable Organization
- Must be to work with minimum supervision

Maintenance & Operations Officer
The Maintenance & Operations Officer is responsible for managing the college’s physical infrastructure, including buildings, grounds, fleet, and facilities-related services. This role encompasses overseeing maintenance, repairs, fleet management, environmental compliance, safety standards, space utilisation, and event logistics. The Officer ensures that all facilities and services meet operational, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Facilities Management:
Assist with overseeing the maintenance, repair, and improvement of college facilities, such as classrooms, laboratories, dormitories, and libraries, under the direction of the Facilities Manager.
Support in developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs for building systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing, as delegated.
Help ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within all campus facilities, reporting any concerns or issues to the Facilities Manager.
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and staff to support maintenance projects, ensuring they align with set timelines and budgets.
2. Fleet Management:
Assist with managing the college’s fleet, including buses, shuttles, and utility vehicles, and support the scheduling, use, and maintenance of these vehicles.
Support the compliance process for fleet vehicle safety, including assisting with transportation regulations, vehicle inspections, and driver certifications.
Monitor and report on fuel usage, vehicle insurance, and registrations, and ensure these records remain up-to-date for the Facilities Manager’s review.
3. Operations & Logistics:
Coordinate logistics for campus events, moves, and special projects as directed, including assisting with space setup, furniture relocation, and audiovisual needs.
Work with various departments to provide facility and operational support for campus events, ensuring all logistical needs are met efficiently.
Help oversee janitorial services, groundskeeping, and waste management tasks, reporting any issues to the Facilities Manager and suggesting improvements where possible.
Assist with space planning and utilisation, contributing ideas for efficient campus facilities use.
4. Resource Management:
Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets related to facilities, maintenance, fleet, and operations, ensuring adherence to budgetary guidelines.
Track operational expenditures and help maintain budget control, providing updates and reports to the Facilities Manager.
Support contract management with vendors and service providers, aiding in negotiations and maintaining records of service agreements.
5. Environmental and Safety Compliance:
Help ensure the college adheres to environmental, health, and safety regulations, working with the Facilities Manager to identify areas for improvement.
Assist in developing and implementing safety protocols, including supporting regular safety inspections and emergency preparedness drills for staff, students, and visitors.
6. Staff Management:
Provide day-to-day guidance to facilities and fleet personnel, supporting training and performance management under the direction of the Facilities Manager.
Offer leadership and support to maintenance, custodial, and transportation staff, fostering a positive and effective team environment as delegated by the Facilities Manager.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or advanced diploma in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
Extensive knowledge of facilities management, fleet operations, and logistics.
Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Supervisory experience with the ability to lead teams effectively.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and facilities management software is an advantage.
