PHYSICIAN
JOB SUMMARY:
Provide the full scope of medical services to all adults who fall under his/her field of training, including but not limited to: Diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventive care, health information and education of all parents.
In addition, the Physician is a member of the St John’s Medical Centre’s team. In that capacity, he/she is expected to be familiar and embrace the philosophy, goals and strategies of the institution and work in collaboration with other team members to achieve them.He/she must be cognizant of, and comply with rules and regulations of both the institution and the profession.
JOB SCHEDULE:
1.Full time: 5 office weekdays and callouts outside working hours
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Ward rounds for in-patients
2.Coordinate referrals for services not offered within St John’s Medical Centre
3.Participate in hospital’s outreaches on-site and off-site campaigns
4.Participate in peer reviews, quality assurance, clinical and non-clinical meetings
5.Assist in updating clinical practice protocols and supervision plus mentorship of junior staff members.
Qualification: MMed/STP in Internal Medicine
Affiliation: HPCZ-Specialist register
Valid Practicing license.
Minimum of two years post qualification professional experience.

Job Description:
As a Surgeon at Metro Sda Hospital, you will specialize in surgical procedures. You will work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to diagnose and treat patients with complex cardiovascular and thoracic conditions. Your responsibilities will include performing surgeries, managing postoperative care, and contributing to the advancement of surgery practices through research and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform surgeries, including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve repair/replacement, and lung resections.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including interpreting diagnostic tests and imaging.
- Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
- Provide postoperative care and manage complications-related surgeries.
- Participate in on-call duties and manage emergency cases.
- Collaborate with cardiologists, pulmonologists, anesthesiologists, and other specialists to optimize patient outcomes.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated with advancements in surgery.
- Mentor and train surgical residents, fellows, and other medical staff.
- Contribute to research and quality improvement initiatives within the department.
Qualifications:
- Medical degree (MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
- Board certification or eligibility in Surgery.
- Valid medical license to practice
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Surgeon, with a proven record of accomplishment of successful surgeries.
- Expertise in complex surgical procedures.
- Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
- Excellent communication and patient care skills.
- Ability to handle high-stress situations and make critical decisions under pressure.
- Dedication to continuous learning and professional growth.
