Research Assistant
Job Summary
The Research Assistants will primarily be responsible for supporting the MER department in gathering accurate & credible data on the children admitted to the Tree of Life, ensuring quality of data and systems, conducting research, analyzing results and support in system automations and any other tasks that they might be assigned.
Specific Tasks and Activities
- Data Entry
- Enter child bio-data of all children admitted to the Tree of Life
- Enter data contained in the care plans of all children admitted to the Tree of Life
- Any other data entry tasks that may be needed during their tenure
2. Data Quality Control (QC)
- Conduct checks on the collected data to ensure it meets the overall quality goals and defined quality criteria for individual values and the organization standards
- Maintain quality control standards to preserve the integrity of data and findings
3. Automations Support
- Support the MER departments various automations as it works to transition the organizations data systems from paper/manual to electronic/digital
- Support the departments research and strategic focuses in system automations.
- Support the development of systematic processes to positively contribute the activities of MER.
- Support the development of program or activity dashboards for analysis purposes.
4. Administrative Support
- Assist the MER department in the preparation of narrative status reports when need be
- Attend all departmental meetings as required
- Perform other MER tasks as assigned by the MER Manager
Timeline
The project is expected to take about three (3) months.
Roles & Responsibilities
Monitoring Evaluation and Research Manager (or his designate) will be the point of contact with the Research Assistants and will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Provide overall support and supervision to the Research Assistants
- Avail the Research Assistants with access to all the relevant information, databases and data collection tools.
- Supervise and oversee all lines of work and delivery
- Provide all tools needed for the task
- Assign staff to work with the Research Assistants
Reporting and administrative arrangements
- The Research Assistants will report to the MER Manager and will give weekly progress reports on all activities.
- Candidates will operate from the Family Legacy Ibex Head Office, the Tree of Life, or any of the Legacy Academies, based on the type of tasks and this is subject to review.
- The candidates may be required to move station from the Tree of Life to the Ibex Head Office, or any of the Legacy Academies, and vice versa.
Qualifications and Experience Required for the Position
- Minimum of a degree in Maths and Statistics, Economics, Computer Science (with a focus on software development), or any related field
2 years electronic data entry experience will be an added advantage - Good computer skills, including knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, Jot-forms, Kobo tools, Google sheets etc.
- Excellent team work spirit and capacity to build productive relations with colleagues
- Self-motivated, able to work under pressure and meet all work deadlines;
- Ability to relocate from one work station to another without compromising performance
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Good report-writing skills
- Data analysis skills will be an added advantage
Take note that verified qualifications from Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZQA) will be required
